Captain Lawrence Brewing Company is a growing craft brewery located in Westchester County, New York. In order to expand production and reach a larger audience, they moved their brewing facilities into larger accommodations and began programming and marketing efforts to capture a larger crowd. Chief among these was a new website which would allow them to spotlight events, new brews, tastings, and keg requests. Since we at Studio 23 love good beer, we jumped on the chance to redesign the site.
We created an aesthetic that was rich and inviting—like a good amber ale. We developed the site using WordPress which allows the client to make changes quickly and easily, posting last-minute events or changes in menus. Ample room was made on the homepage to promote events in sequence as well as a featured beer that would be swapped out seasonally. Below the main image, we created a series of featured event promotional areas, an area for the latest article posted to the site, feeds from Twitter and Facebook and a calendar of upcoming events. We also included a sign-up tool that allows visitors to receive periodic updates from the brewery and created templates for HTML emails that allow them to reach out with announcements of specials or events on site.
Lastly, we worked with the staff to instruct them in the new admin system walking them through the steps necessary to update the site and strategies for content development. Today, the site gets hundreds of visitors each day and serves to quench the thirst of those who want to learn more about Captain Lawrence beers.
